Endothelin-1 (ET-1), a vasoconstrictive and pro-inflammatory peptide, is associated with several cardiovascular risk factors and outcomes. We aimed to investigate the association of plasma ET-1 levels and renal function among young and healthy adults.
NEW & NOTEWORTHY Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is recognized as the body’s most potent endogenous vasoconstrictor, but the impact of this peptide on vascular function is not well understood. The present study revealed that the intra-arterial administration of ET-1 impaired both microvascular and conduit vessel function of the leg in young, healthy, humans.

Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is a powerful vasoconstrictor peptide and regulator of blood flow that plays an important role in blood pressure (BP) elevation in some
Three distinct genes encoding for three ET isopeptides: ET1, ET2 and ET3 were identified [ 168 ]. ET1 is released constitutively from endothelial cells and regulates vascular function. OBJECTIVE: The endothelin (ET) system is influenced by a variety of stress conditions in many tissues.
